Round Copper Boxs

    img

Copper box from a 15th century example. It is made from sheet copper and joined with hand-made copper rivets and lead/tin solder. The top has compass drawn circle and swirl decoration and the sides are lightly engraved with a vine and leaf motif. 4" in diameter.

The clasp comes up through the lid and engages a hook on the lid.
This was a really fun project that only took about 4 nights to finish. Copper is great to work with. I'm going to try some others with fluted lids next.

    Copper Box 2

Copper box number 2. This one has more engraving and a friciton-fit pierced lid. This one is also rivited and soldered together. About 4" in diameter.

First attempt at heavy repousee/chasing on a lid. I beat the leaf into a rough wooden form first, then finished up on various small stakes.

    Ring Box

This is the small box I gave Jen her ring in when I proposed to her :) It says "I love you" in Old English, or at least I think it does. Either way, she didn't complain.
